What better place or time to ask Americans what they think of politics today than Washington, DC on the 4th of July? Watch the video to see what people had to say to our Unity08 roving reporters. Then, let us know what you have to say by commenting in the blog, posting your opinion in the Shoutbox or sending us your own video or audio clip. Or, better yet, post it to YouTube and we'll link to it.
I am a policy conscious individual who is very interested in new approaches to solving some of our society's critical problems. One of those critical problems is health care for seniors.
One idea I would like to advance that I think would make a difference in health care costs is an insurance program for clinical trials. Clinical trials are one of the most costly components of developing new drugs and bringing them to market. If we developed an insurance program which required that successful participants would accept lower prices for the products brought to market, we could bring about a significant reduction in the cost of pharmaceuticals.
While this insurance program would require an initial capital infusion for its reserve fund, it could charge a small premium on successsfully developed products and eventually become self sustaining. It would then function as a government guaranteed insurance program.
One of the most significant benefits of this program is that it would enable new companies to enter the market for prescription drugs. Right now, only companies with net worth in the range of billions of dollars range can participate. With this new insurance program, companies with net worth less than ten million should be able to participate.
Do away with the "aisle". Seat all Representatives and Senators alphabetically so they can get to know each other.
And how much did we pay for this drivel?
If anything it shows, if you listen closely that the people that are disenchanted with the status quo are NOT unified in what they want to actually happen.

This nation has no excuse when it comes to healthcare... this unconstitutional way of making us pay privately while also making us pay with taxes for healthcare in the form of social security and medicare tax... this is unconstitutional... and by the way the only reason "I MEAN ONLY" reason we don't have national health insurance is to preserve the billions in profits made by private insurance companies and their lobby... www.appyp.com/fix_main.html
Earn , good to see you on a slow day.
BTW which section of the Constitution deals with the healthcare issue you are talking about?
