More reasons why we need to join together to take our country back:
- Shouldn't Voters -- And Not Donors -- Decide? Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS) is expected to end his White House 2024 bid today, Los Angeles Times reports. "In exiting the race, Brownback will become the third GOP hopeful to quit before any official ballots are cast. Former Govs. Jim Gilmore of Virginia and Tommy Thompson of Wisconsin also abandoned their candidacies after struggling for money and attention."
- Who's Playing Politics With Judicial Nominations? "One month after an anonymous senator placed a 'secret hold' on her nomination," Rosa Emilia Rodriguez-Velez, the interim U.S. attorney in Puerto Rico "who has waged an intensive probe of the island territory's ruling Democratic Party, remains in political limbo," National Journal reports. "In a skirmish that could have a decisive impact on Puerto Rico's gubernatorial election next year, her nomination has been blocked by a lawmaker who, while unnamed, is widely believed to be an ally of the Democrats she's targeting in her three-year corruption investigation. ... The imbroglio also appears to have seeped into K Street's lobbying community," as two longtime lobbyists for Puerto Rico's government "have reached out to Senate contacts to argue against Rodriguez-Velez's confirmation."
- How Low Can It Go? According to the latest Reuters/Zogby poll, just 12% of Americans say Congress is doing a "excellent" or "good" job.
- Quotable: "This is no way to elect the president of the United States." -- NBC's Tim Russert, on the primary calendar chaos.

AND A NEW TOPIC ON THIS Website "LET'S PUT UP - OR SHUT UP - NOW"
I KNOW The Founders and Delegates I've been working with WANT TO WIN, I'm losing confidence in their ability to Win ..
We've been going around in circles talking to ourselves for months now, what forward strides have been made - have been made by a handful of delegates who took upon themselves to start building an agenda..
THE PROBLEM IS MAUREEN ... THERE ARE MILLIONS OF POTENTIAL AMERICA VOTERS OUT THERE WAITING FOR A MIRACLE TO HAPPEN .. that Miracle Being Someone, Something TO SAVE THEM FROM WHAT THEY KNOW WILL BE THE STATUS QUO if Either Major Party Controls Both The White House & Congress ..
UNITY - like it or not - believe it or not IS THE ONLY "MIRACLE" THAT CAN SAVE AMERICA FROM THAT POSSIBILITY ..
When I joined UNITY08 and went to Washington to Meet With DOUG BAILEY & STAFF, I made it clear (as is my way of doing things) - that our goals were the same and I was in this to win, not play second banana to a bunch of Professional Politicians who knew a hell of a lot loss about saving a venture than I did.
My word - for what it's worth, after you read and digested to two articles - if you agree with me email dbailey@unity08.com and tell him so ..
Stay well, God Bless ..

Balderdash. The "status quo" under Clinton was prosperity and relative peace (compared to the current administration) and the wars we had were prosecuted comparatively successfully. I'll take more of that "status quo", please, and let people bitch about blow jobs and 250K whitewater deals instead of crying about thousands of dead and hundreds of billions wasted on stupidity and crony corruption.
Unity08 is beginning to look like an idea to lull people into forgetting simple facts of who is responsible for what.
Now how the hell is that "unity", except as a dodge of responsibility?
Confusion reigns ! Russert says so !! Why do we add to it ? !!!
You are working on a new website----KISS----You "whippersnappers" confuse us...... but remember, we Senior Citizens turn out to vote, so KISS !!!
Yes but it is always the other guys Congressmen and rarely our own Congressmen - thus the 85% rate of incumbency return rate for these people no matter how low the overall rating for Congress goes (due primarily to so many "safe" seats generated by redistricting now).
Related to the Congress incumbency topic, check out THE REDISTRCTING GAME . The game shows how the crafty manipulation of district lines (Gerrymandering) can yield skewed victories for either party—effectively allowing politicians to choose their voters instead of voters choosing their politicians. Play and pass on. Another resaon we need to reform so that the majority of Congressional races are contested and not just the 15% we see now and so we get more accountability and transparency in Government.
From an article about it:
“If you think electronic games are just an idle amusement, you should think again...They are one of the most pervasive and powerful means for communication in this age. The Redistricting Game builds on that; educating, informing and motivating people to take action who otherwise might never have known the challenge Gerrymandering poses to our democracy...
Deriving its operating rules from current regulations, the free game enables players of all ages and partisan beliefs to see how redistricting works, how it is manipulated, and how it adversely influences the U.S. political process.
The Redistricting Game will help people understand how broken the system is. When politicians can choose their voters instead of the voters electing their representatives, the result is a shrinking political center in Washington where fewer Members feel compelled to break the divide and put the needs of the American people ahead of their political parties.
“The Redistricting Game is an interactive tool that illustrates how the current redistricting process works and how it can be abused,” said Congressman Zach Wamp (R-TN-3). “The game demonstrates the flaws in the current system and why reform—like the bill I cosponsored with Congressman Tanner—is necessary.
Featuring fictionalized characters such as Democratic Congressman “Tyree Hugger” and Republican Congresswoman “Val Hughes,” THE REDISTRICTING GAME provides hands-on understanding of the real redistricting process, including drawing district maps and interacting with party bosses, congresspeople, citizen groups and courts. In addition, the game provides details on a variety of reform measures—including a playable version of H.R. 543—as well as features that let users get involved in the public discourse: dialoging with citizens online; spreading the word; and writing their congressperson directly from the game.
The USC project is “A funny and insightful game that sheds light on redistricting and the complexity—yet necessity—of reform,” said John Anderson, former independent presidential candidate and chair of FairVote.org. “Be prepared to be challenged in trying to win—and challenged to consider how we can all win,” he added. Joining FairVote.org at the event were representatives from the Campaign Legal Center, League of Women Voters, and other reform groups."

Unity should post these and other such fun and educative games that inform on their site. Enjoy but try not to cry!!
