First-ever online-only presidential candidate "MASHUP". The event is set for September 12th, and will be posted on The Huffington Post,Yahoo and Slate.
It will be moderated by Charlie Rose, and all eight Democratic candidates have agreed to take part (Discussions with the Republican campaigns for a GOP candidate mashup to follow later in the year. No word yet on when independent candidates mashup will be scheduled).
What's a candidate mashup? It's a new kind of campaign forum that will put you in charge of shaping exactly what kind of viewing experience you want to have -- from the questions that are asked to the way you can pick and choose the issues you want to hear about and the candidates you want to hear from.
Here's how it will work: Charlie Rose, armed with questions you have sent in, will have a conversation with each of the candidates (more on these questions in a minute). The intimacy that Charlie always brings to his conversations is the perfect compliment to the intimacy, directness, and authenticity that were the hallmark of so many of the public's YouTube questions.
After the candidates have finished talking, the video will be coded and put at your disposal -- empowering you to create the candidate mashups of your choosing.
Want to see what all the candidates said about Iraq? It's just a click away. Or maybe you just want to compare the answers of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Or perhaps health care is your primary concern and you want to see how John Edwards' take on the issue compares to Joe Biden's or Chris Dodd's. The point is, you can watch what you want, when you want, and how you want. Focus on one candidate or one issue or mix and match. Then share your takes on what you see with your friends or other mashup users.
It's Campaign 2024 meets the brave new world of interactivity.

Once again, I really don't have a problem with doing that. I have even stated I'll second your motion, if made. But I really don't seeing that as an effective political solution, without an enforcement mechanism in place after the election.
So let's be economical about this; I'll support you agenda, if you'll support mine. Namely; if you will support the creation of a powerful Internet Peoples' Party, as your enforcement mechanism after the election, I'll support your pledges.

Call me anything you would like, Unity08 cannot and will not accept your plan until it registers with the FEC as a PAC, that much is clear.
Politicians are full of pledges during campaign, that's what they do. Words will not change the present power structure. Your plan does not create a new political power base of organized voters either before or after the election. Creating a powerful Internet political 3rd party will create a new power base of voters that will empower the center once again in American politics.

When you become a local member of the NCP, you can make a motion for the adoption of your plan, If it receives a second, and supported by your local county chapter, and after passing legal review, it will be placed as a plank on the State NCP platform for adoption. Upon adoption by the State committee, and, if appropriate, the plank will automatically be placed on the National Unity Party's platform for adoption. Twice a year, at convention time, all the members of all the National Cyber Party will vote to amend NCP's political platform . This this fashion, the political platform of the NCP will always be supported by a majority of its membership, from the ground top.
