Our members asked whether they could add certain issues to the vote on the New American Agenda. We thought it was a great idea. A few weeks ago we asked them to submit issues. We compiled those issues into a list and took the ten most requested and placed them into a poll. This poll was announced yesterday in a 10 Minute Tuesday campaign.
VIsit the poll and rank issues to be added.
Here is a breakdown of the issues that were suggested (Total suggestions: 1955):
• Tax reform: 6.6% (130)
• Lobbyist Influence in Washington: 5.4% (105)
• Upholding the Constitution: 4.6% (90)
• Term limits: 3.5% (69)

1) Environmental Sustainability needs to be the FIRST ISSUE on the political agenda. This is about economic and resource efficiencies. The result is a strong, sustainable economic boom. . .and a new leadership in the global economy.
2)A primary step is the need for an ENERGY POLICY. America hasn't had one for decades. This will create a new expansion of industry and economy via Alternative Energy Technology. See . . www.xology.com... this shows how a struggling state reliant on the Big 3 auto industry economy is rising to be in state, and national control.
By 2024-50, all of the arguing will end. Solar technology will reign as king in the global economy.
The new gold in the auto industry is GREEN. The same fits for all industry around the world. Note GE going GREEN in 2024 and all the other multinational corps. going this way.
Our politicians and administrators (ie, the Dir. of the EPA doesn't have any science education. Most politicians everywhere DON'T.) The world looks the way it does because the global leaders don't know science.)
3) Improved/enhanced Environmental Sustainability will improve our national health via the air, water and food sources. Water is becoming "the next oil" in our global resource distribution. We need leaders who comprehend this and will lead us, not lead corporations to make unfair profits from us.
4) All politicians in control now, CEOs of the Fortune 500 and leaders in the U.N have this book and pedagogy . . . THE PLAN. This is the primer to use as a leaders take the helm from the previously unconscious abusers of power and industry.
Environmental Sustainability creates Economic Sustainability and it is being taught in MBA schools. It is about new, strong profitability and expansion of resource use outside/beyond the existing paradigm.
5) We need presidents and administrators as well as corporate and NGO leaders to embrace this shift of economic and social action. It is all about protection, development and sustainable use of all resources (air, water and earth).
6) See the Clinton Foundation's passion to incent and create new markets to motivate Alternative choices for the environment and for health around the world. It is about bringing big, new markets that demand Green, clean products and services. We need leaders to lead this paradigm shift.
So far I see nothing about the problem of illegals and then you hype the Clinton foundation. What is this?

In your messages you stated that "a few weeks ago we asked them to submit issues." Did I miss the announcement? Where was the announcement made? Is there a record of this announcement?
And from the results, which we have never been privy too, somebody compiled those issues into a list and took the ten most requested and placed them into a poll.
All of these actions should have been properly announced to the delegate body and the results posted in an open forum.
I don't know about anybody else, but I had no idea any of this was taking place behind the scene. This all goes to trust. Again, and again, people are not going to trust the leadership of Unity08 if it continues to do these kinds of behinds the scene maneuverings.
So now we are faced with a poll that was announced yesterday in a "10 Minute Tuesday campaign". I have no idea what that means. So now I am confused as ever.

We asked members to submit issues to be added in a 10 Minute Tuesday campaign that was distributed two weeks ago on 9/18/07. We compiled the issues submitted and presented the results in the 10 Minute Tuesday campaign that was delivered this week on 10/02/07. At the same time, we announced the poll to select the issues which will be added to the second vote of the New American Agenda.

...on "Recent Blog posts", where you asked members to submit issues to be added in a 10 Minute Tuesday campaign that was distributed two weeks ago on 9/18/07. Where is this announcement posted? Please advise. Thank you.

When you say, "We asked members to submit issues to be added in a 10 Minute Tuesday campaign that was distributed two weeks ago on 9/18/07"; how was that done? Do you mean you emailed a message to all delegates on 9/18/07 explaining this procedure? It seems I may have missed that announcement altogether.
What does the meaning of the phrase,"10 Minute Tuesday campaign" mean to signify?
And since it seems I may have missed the 9/18/07 announcement, I also did not clearly understand that Unity08 was going to post a poll on a given date to select the issues which will be added to the second vote of the New American Agenda. Was the date of this poll's commencement clearly given out at that time?
I appreciate your indulgence in this matter. But these kinds of procedures are very, very important and should not be taken lightly. Every effort should be used to properly notify all delegates when their input is going to be required...it goes to the issue of trust and transparency of the entire process.

"10 Minute Tuesday" emails are sent to the entire membership every Tuesday. They give members something that they can do each week to help advance the movement, such as vote in a poll, write a letter to your local editor, etc. The point is, with only a 10 minute commitment, you can make a difference.
If you are not receiving them, then your email client may be classifying them as junk mail or you have unsubscribed from our communications. In the case of the former, I suggest that you make sure "info@unity08.com" is on your white list.

Okay, I have periodically received invitations to make donations to Unity08, so Unity08's email messages are coming through my spam blocker. In addition, my spam blocker notifies me when they have blocked something so I can make the decision to accept it or reject it.
How do I check whether I am on the "white list" or not?
Again, I appreciate your indulgence in this matter.

White lists are maintained by your email client (It may not be called a white list for your client). Basically, you are just making sure that email from a particular address is being considered friendly. Sometimes this is tough if you are on Yahoo!, Hotmail, or GMail since a mass email from us will hit many of their members at the same time and could be construed as junk mail even though the members have subscribed to it. Contact your email provider to see what your options are.
Check your account profile on our web site to make sure that it has the proper email address for you.
Test your email account by sending a message to "info@unity08.com." Since that is our support address, you should receive an auto-response from it immediately.

It seems I didn't receive your notification. I am now wondering how many others didn't receive it as well?
Was there any sort of a notice given on the Shoutbox to put people on notice that a message was going to be sent out to each delegate?
Was there an after-the-event announcement posted on the Unity08's website letting delegates know that they should have received a individual message from Unity08? And if they didn't receive one, to send a message to info@unity08.com?

Perhaps Unity08 should post some instructions on its home page explaining to all delegates just how important it is to establish good communication between Unity08 and each delegate. You could start by instructing them to do that same sort of test you have just described to me. "Test your email account by sending a message to "info@unity08.com." Since that is our support address, you should receive an auto-response from it immediately."
But establishing good communication between Unity08 and its delegates is the first step to building trust and should not be overlooked or minimized in any way.

Our delivery rate is very, very high. Whenever we have a call to action, I send an email and make a blog post about it. Which means, you can either receive the email or the RSS feed update. I realize that feeds are probably a strange animal to many of our users, but they are reliable and you can have these announcements delivered to your email account, My Yahoo! page, or other feed reading service.
Our current home page is really built for registering new members. So it is a bit unwieldy for making updates for existing members often. And, one of the laws of marketing is to get non-members to register without too much distraction. You want to tell them who, why, and how. 60-70% of those visiting that page each day are new to the page, aka non-members.
Because I know you to be an avid watchdog of the organization, you could easily fault my logic here, but I am being proactive to seek your patience on this particular matter. Because... we are launching a new web site very soon that will address the messaging difference between members and non-members and it will allow me to post alerts as to what is currently happening on the site with much more ease.

...for your new web format. But I really can't emphasize enough how important communication is to this new endeavor. Don't forget, once a non-member has joined up, that's only the beginning of their journey. But in order to start out on that journey they have to trust in the organization, and you can't have trust without communication.
Announcing up coming general delegate email connect on the web site is a form of communication. Follow up web announcement on the email response is a form of communication. Answering every email is a must, it's perhaps the most important form of communication, and I hop it is being done religiously.
Announcing when a poll is being contemplated. Announcing when it will be open. Announcing when the delegate email are going to be sent out, all are important forms of communicaton
Participating in the forum by different council members is a form of communication, and a from of trust building, and there so much more.
I get a sense that most members who have signed up are really not contacted again unless they are asked to donate money. In my opinion, they should never, ever be asked to do that through a Unity08 email. They should be asked to participate in the program, the more ways you guys can dream up for the delegate membership to participate in, the better. There really can't be too much participation.
Developing this New American Agenda is a perfect example of how you seem to go out of your way to minimize delegate participation. When you stop and think of the number of ways delegate participation could have been fostered in this one activity, and it wasn't, you begin to see why your delegates aren't going out and signing up their friends as new members.
When delegates participate in the organization to a high level, two things happen, they go out and tell their friends, and they donate without being asked.
I also thought the RSS feed was going to extend to the Shoutbox topics and threadlines, am I wrong in that hope?
I would also like to sign up for the "Official Announcement" Blog RSS feed blog that simply contains official announcements that are related to delegate notices and not be used as a propaganda feeds -- that would be nice for the new web format.
So here's hoping your new web format will be dedicated to fostering more communication, more participation and more trust in the future.

The Iraq War resulted basically from economic and political greed. But a seconday issue that is not often recognized and discussed is the American belief, that as a nation "under God," we have a mandate as "his chosen nation" to wipe out evil elsewhere in the world. Isn't this an over simplification of evil and an arragant depiction of a diety blessing the US?
There is a new posting today stating that he doesn't want to donate until he is sure Unity08 won't sell his contact information to other organizations for a fee.
This caused me to search for Unity08's declaration as to how it handles the personal contact information it receives from delegates. Is there one, and, if so, where is it?
Also, you have to typographical errors on your donor page where it explains about supplying current employer in cases of donations of $200.
