hopefully, congress (no thanks to bushie, a boy in the company of men) has had enough of cities that have become a haven for the Criminal Illegal Aliens among us!

There was a glimmer of hope on the {sh-}amnesty landscape in the House, as a bill to cut all Department of Homeland Security Funding to OUTLAW cities that have an Amnesty mindset toward ILLEGAL ALIENS and make them either chose Funding or continuing to break federal law by offering shelter to ILLEGALS.

The Amendment would prevent cities like Denver and San Francisco who employ a sanctuary policy for illegal aliens from receiving first responder funds, including law enforcement and terrorism prevention grants, among other programs. In the meantime, sanctuary cities are on notice: Defy immigration law, risk your homeland security funding. Too bad the White House refuses to send that message.

Could it be the Democrats are finally getting the message American is tired of Illegal Immigrants being above the law, killing our citizens and our children, when they should not even be in AMERICA!

To round up the illegals in the "sanctuary" cities? If you have your way, how many people will be murdered in Detroit next year because the (nearly bankrupt) city spends all of its resources on illegal immigration issues? Where will cities get the manpower to enforce immigration law to your standards?

Jeff C

The costs of not enforcing our immigration laws far outweigh the costs of enforcing them! Why do you think those cities are bankrupt in the first place? They can simply bring in police from surrounding locals, INS agents and if need be the national guard. If the law is enforced I dare say there will be a heck of a lot less people "murdered in Detroit next year". How much does it cost to pick someone up and haul them to the border?

The vast majority of the People are fed up with illegal immigration and illegal immigrants. Any politician on the wrong side of this issue is toast, just ask Juan McCain.

yes, it is difficult taking responsibility for the decisions one makes (or doesn't make)...
laws (federal, state &/or local) are ultimately, the responsibility of every "usa citizen"...not just law-enforcement.
bad things happen, when good men do nothing

if you wanna play in my backyard, you gotta respect me & my rules..or convince me to change them...

And work to solve the issue. Law enforcement doesn't have the resources to track down enough illegal immigrants to make a dent in the problem - and law enforcement frankly shouldn't be wasting time on these cases when there are more serious matters to deal with.

There are a few illegal immigrants who commit other crimes; most work hard and obey our laws, probably better than we do ourselves, since illegal immigrants are mainly looking to blend in to avoid being deported.

Illegal immigration is an economic issue, and we need to deal with it based on factual information, and in a way that addresses the underlying issue behind the problem.

So stop pontificating, and take responsibility for the world as it is. You will never be able to round up 20 million people, and they will not self-deport. Those are the facts, and any solution has to be built around those parameters.

If you wanna play in my backyard, you have to have a grip on reality.

I'm thinking.......
uncontrolled "illegal" immigration supports that mantra of "trickle-down" economics.
controlled immigration & the idea of "usa citizenship" supports "trickle-up" economics.

yes, i could see why politicians, churchs, social-capital organizations (ie..La Raza), land-owners & business
welcome illegal immigration...ugh.

this issue reinforces that, you too, can pick & choose which laws to obey / respect
& which "trickle-down" economics accrue to illegals, after you get yours 1st.....

If you believe your own hype, then you should never buy any produce - unless you can verify where and how it was grown. You should never purchase any product or service, since there is a chance that you will be supporting an illegal immigrant. You shouldn't own a car. You shouldn't walk into a building, unless you can verify who built the structure. Vote with your wallet.

Like many Americans, you talk a good game, but you probably won't make the hard choices to back up your beliefs.

Human rights vs citizens rights
Thomas Paine in The Rights of Man typified this as "applying the principle to practice". "The laws of every country must be analogous to some principle" he argued. Without a proper mechanism by which our values are given expression and our rights afforded protection they remain intangible. Principle, as is demonstrated in human rights violations going on around the world today, offers no practical protection unless it is analogous to the law ( & enforced ).

and yes if food "point of origin (aka-labeling)" were enforced....i could/would be making those decisions.......

Since illegal immigration is becoming more and more a national security and defense issue, the job of building the border fence is best done by the Army Corps of Engineers. They will get the job done!

Oh yeah, cities that support the breaking of laws by breaking laws themselves, ought to have all taxpayer funds withheld until they come into compliance, period!

And I think ALL cities should have funds cut off/withheld until they comply with and enforce totally and completely all speeding and DUI/DWI laws - no exceptions!!!

Not much different from how we often conduct foreign policy. The carrot and the stick are the same thing.

No carrots Phil Just feel good sticks!! I was tongue in cheek on the absolute absudity of this sanctuary cut-off thingy as any way to solve anything re illegal immigration. Will make us feel good though and think we are doing something, but...

John, why do I get the feeling that there is something else here that you want to say?
