CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION - We need to do one

Briefly, I am suggesting that we need to think about conducting a Constitutional Convention as soon as possible. This event will attract considerable attention to the cause and facilitate a process by which to reconnect to the principles that this country was founded on. I believe that many of our modern day issues stem from the fact that we have drifted and now seem to be sliding away from the roles and responsibilities defined in the Constitution. Most notably it is Congress, through their collective experience, knowledge and wisdom that should decide whether or not to go to war. It is Congress that should be deciding WHAT the mission is and it is the Executive Branch that determines HOW the mission should be accomplished. Just as Congress makes law and the Executive enforces law, so too should Congress be making Policy and the Executive enforcing Policy. This is not what is happening now and we need to put our house in order before and above anything else.

There is NO need to alter the Constitution because you happen to disagree with the fact that we are fighting an unnecessary war... Congress' collective experience, knowledge and wisdom is an oxymoron in these times and the constitution never mentions the great America lobby or special interests groups which Congress is beholden to instead of the American people. It is up to the people to chnage the players not the game. The checks and balances that our founding fathers lid in place work whether you and I agree or disagree on policy...In reality, it was the Project for a New American Century (formed in 1997) that laid the plans for this war and no Congressional powers were going to stop these lunatics and you need to look at the people involved in that "think tanK' and you will understand why things are the way they are, BUT PLEASE, DEAR GOD,LEAVE THE CONSTITUTION ALONE..

Most Americans like the Constitution for the most part Don--myself included. However, the Founders envisioned a time such as ours when the federal government would be overtaken by excessively greedy self-serving interests no longer accountable to the people and states. This is why they placed a Constitutional Convention provision in Article V of the Constitution. This is the means by which the federal government can be reigned in. And as they say, use it or lose it . . . and your nation in the process.

Also wanted to add that when the Constitution was created the bulk of the populace was on the eastern seaboard. The Capitol(D.C.) was within close proximity to the bulk of the populace. That is no longer the case today and is also one of the main reasons why are country is facing so many problems. All directives emanate from D.C. and that is no longer tolerable.

Plans for one are now in the works. See link below:

Sure, why not, as long as we can find a collection of statesmen/women of the intellectual caliber wisdom and temperament of the folks who wrote the last one. GOOD LUCK!!!

The Constitution needs to be reset back before the Judicial System and the Presidency perverted it. Just a thought.
