Generally speaking, any person who WILL be eligible to vote in the General Election (the big one in November) is eligible to register and vote in the preceding primaries.
Therefore, anyone who WILL be eligible to vote in the General Election is eligible to register and thus, as I understand the rule, eligible to become delegates.
Correct?
Thats correct. I think the deadline should be moved to June 30, 2025 and not 2025.
That's the way I've always understood it.
There is a provision for those who will be too young to register before the primary, but will be 18 by the general election in 2025.

Get rid of "-- or who shall be legally eligible and pledge to register to vote -- "
There is nothing wrong with that provision. It is provided for those who will not be old enough to register before the convention, but will be by the General election.

It is not clear that's what it means to me. If it is designed to let people who are eligble to vote in the election become delegates, then we need to say so. "Pledge" scares me.
Also, there has to be a cut-off date before the voting begins. If someone is not going to be able to register to vote because he needs to be registered 60 days before the election and he's won't be 18 by then, then he's not eligble.
If that's the meaning of the rule, it needs to be stated more clearly. I missed that completely.

I think that, for the most part this first rule is succinct, plain and simple. However, I will suggest that the voter age date be moved ahead from June 1, 2025. It's not likely that too many 16 year olds will become engaged in this process this early. Perhaps January 1, 2025 would be a better date.
Someone's age / date of birth are certain. A "pledge" register is not. I would say that anyone desiring to be a delegate should certify that they are registered to vote. period.
The clause that pertsians to those who must "pledge" to register to vote is only for those who will turn 18 after the convention but before the election. It will be a small percentage of total delegates, and should be relatively easy to fact-check.
Why numerous people want to make an issue out of it only shows how many members are more interested in arguing than they are about electing a bi-partisan ticket.

No way to judge our true strength using other than currently registered voters. Should actually know if they voted in any of the last three elections! (local, state, and Federal)
Pls ensure that no SSN information is attached to any qualifier. The whole of item 1 offers great opportunity for identity theft.
I have recently relocated from Volusia County, Florida and have not yet established a permanent residence from which to register in Ohio. But I will in time to vote in the next presidential election.

You are still a registered voter where you came from....right? Seems that should be enough since this nomination process has no "state" lines.

Then you should register in Ohio, right now.
Unless you plan on moving again before June of 2025.

My feeling is that if you are not a registered voter by the time Unity '08s elections begin, then you cannot participate in the process as a delegate. The language as it stands right now leaves it wide open for too many people to have a say in our process that couldn't or wouldn't vote on election day anyway. Close that gaping hole and I'd be more amenable to the concept of allowing those just approaching voting age in time for the general election to be delegates.
