New Poll on Agenda Items

posted by davidfarrar on October 2, 2024 - 3:21pm

Now I am confused. I just got an email notice from Robert Bingham that says:

Dear David,

We received almost 2024 emails suggesting issues to be added to the next vote on the New American Agenda. Thank you for sending them in!

Now, for this 10 Minute Tuesday, visit the poll that we have created from the most-suggested issues that you submitted. Each member can select one issue that they feel should be added to the ranking section of the New American Agenda. The top three issues will be added to the next vote.

If you are new to the movement, you can click here to learn more about the New American Agenda or explore the results from the first vote.

Here is a breakdown of the issues that you suggested (Total suggestions: 1955):

Suggested issues that were already in the 1st vote: 58.5% (1144)
Tax reform: 6.6% (130)
Lobbyist influence in Washington: 5.4% (105)
Upholding the Constitution: 4.6% (90)
Term limits: 3.5% (69)
Campaign reform: 3.4% (66)
Election reform: 2.8% (55)
Congressional earmarks in Federal spending: 2.5% (48)
Church & State: 1.4% (28)
Trade reform: 1% (20)
Drug policy: 1% (19)

Click here to participate in the poll now!

After you have submitted your issue in the poll, be sure to leave comments about it in the forum we have provided on the same page.

Sincerely
Robert Bingham
CEO

PS: This is a great opportunity for you to invite others into the movement that may have a vocal stance on these issues. Click here to tell your friends and family about this poll now.

Did anybody else receive this email invitation, to add an issue on to a poll of the delegate body? Or was it just sent to me?

Did I miss a notice of the poll opening?

Do we know how long the poll will be opened for?

It mentions something about the first suggested issues that were already in the 1st vote receiving 58.5% (1144) votes. How was that number arrived at?

I don't see any mention of the first issues on the poll, so how were they voted on?

During the last survey, was there any mention that a poll would be open on October 2, 2024 at 3:20 pm to allow the delegates to a pick of just one issue?

Who decided that just three issues will be included in the New American Agenda from this list. What rules are we following here?

Is somebody just dreaming this stuff up as they go along?

I am not interested in what the New American Agenda contains. I am interested in making sure the process is fair, transparent and accurately reflects the voice of the delegates.

Let me again restate my point. I don't think the process Unity08 officials are now following in terms of developing its political platform, creating its questions, choosing its nominees is sufficient clear, honest are transparent enough for people to get behind and support it.

I don't understand the process. And what I don't understand, I don't trust. And what I don't have trust in, I don't participate in.

IMHO, that is why Unity08 is not attracting the kind of numbers it should be attracting now. And if it doesn't change, it is never going to attract those numbers. If I am wrong, the numbers will go up. And you can say what a loony guy that David Farrar was.

Got the same e-mail. I think that there has to be some way of narrowing down the number of items on the American Agenda, and a poll seems to be a fair way of doing that provided that results are posted in percentages. However, perhaps there should be a way of adding your own concern to a poll whether it's listed or not.

I agree with you that there could be more transparency in the Unity 08 process; I'm not able to come up with any suggestions other than the above in order to achieve it.

Having said that, I can't find the poll referenced in the e-mail anyway, and that wastes my time, and that's unacceptable to me.

Announcing the opportunity of adding to the crucial issue list of the New American Survey a few weeks back would seem like a good first start. This would have given people notice and increased their involvement.

Announcing its starting time, how long it will be open and, as you mentioned a choice to add your own issue to the list would be a good place to start.

Even an announcement that this was sent out to all of the delegates would seem like a good idea. I don't really know who received this message. Unless we have some verification it was sent out to all the delegates, how were their percentages calculated.

And I still don't know how they came up with a percentage on the first survey questions.

And lastly, I don't understand your reference, "I can't find the poll referenced in the e-mail anyway, and that wastes my time, and that's unacceptable to me." Are you saying your email didn't contain the poll's URL, or are you says you can't find where the poll is located on the Unity08's website?
