Many issues require consensus and that is the focus of this forum. But let me ask the wiser intellects out there about the very style of democracy we have now. Less than half the people vote (perhaps OK in the view of those who do vote) then of that less than half the vote is garned by a candidate in order to "win" the election. Then the candidate takes this win as a mandate to impose her will on the entire population through the purse strings of a government. Perhaps the candidate even structures taxes to penalize her opponents.
Is this the right sort of democracy for the 21st century? A century of the individual, of tolerance and pluralism?
Perhaps the wise and bright out there have ideas for a "better deomcracy for our century"?
