We need to choose people who are unknown, and not working with or in any political party. Who can win is an unknown without any ties to any political party or business interest, someone who is not rich ($100,000.00/yr. salary) someone who was a private in the army, someone who will travel the country in a camper speaking to people as they go. The next president has to come truely from the ranks of the people. Someone will step forward.
Preferably an experienced NCO or experienced officer, as privates have not been in the army for many years(less than 4)
These thoughts resonate with. Unity 08 states the current system is broken, so why then are the possible candidates that continue to be posted from the mainstream political machine? Why do we want to elect part of the problem for the solution? It is my opinion that the vast majority of politicians are wealthy, powerful and out of touch with the mainstream society. (Not an attack on the wealthy & powerful; just an observation) So why chose one of the persons who is a part of the political havoc to correct the political problems? A possible solution is the fact that an unknown could become known very quickly. Take a look at the reality shows, for example, American Idol. People become sensations overnight. With the blogashpere, Youtube and the rest of the internet, the same could happen to a qualified, yet unknown candidate. If this candidate resonates with the American people (who the people give the power) then the people will be choosing a candidate that we truly want, rather than choosing from inadequate choices. Is anyone interested in looking at someone who has successful business experience, a level head, aptitude towards politics and the ability to communicate well, yet nationally unknown? This person will not hold to every stance that each one wants, but that’s O.K. Any candidate who says that they meet all the criteria that a certain group wants is probably telling another group with different views what they want to hear as well. How about a candidate that is straightforward, yet responsible to hear opposing views with sincerity? A candidate that is living the normal everyday American life...One who we the people can lift up to national prominence?
Any thoughts?
Therefore the Unity 08 candidate must command respect from a major portion of the existing parties....no stranger will do that even with a plurality of the vote.

Who knew Obama before Oprah or Huckabee before the recents debates? The establishment being replaced was not suggested. However, respect is earned and these next few months even the "established politicians" are touring America to establish a "commanding respect." Why not raise someone up who is not a part of the problem. If we choose to stay with the establishments status quo, we can expect the same results. We need a change...a change of mind of how to elect a qualified president.

If I had my way all of our presidents would be drafted. (After meeting certain basic qualifications of citizenship, age, etc.) In this way we would occasionally get some one in office who has no intelligence, no common sense, no game plan and no sense of morals or ethics. This would be an improvement in and of itself, as we already get folks like that in office who have additionally already sold themselves out to the highest bidder. Conversly, we would also occasionally get some one who excelled at the job. If you average it out, the overall quality of those serving would rise dramatically.
One immediate DIS-qualification should be a profession of "faith" in one or another of the un-falsifiable, irrational, militant and outmoded religeons. Personally I'd give a lot to have a commander-in-chief who actually thought instead of giving in to irrationality.
Unknowns will stay that way and waste the whole effort.

To be elective to the office of President the candidate must be a natural born Citizen and attained the age of thirty five, see Article II, Section 1 of the US Constitution. I think you need to make that part of Unity 08’s Candidates' Qualifications.
I think having a petition of at least 100 signatures is an excellent idea. This levels the playing field and makes it much easier for any American to run for public office! Kudos to that! Amplifying the numbers would only move to segregate and ostrisize the common person from having an equal opportunity to run for office and would not get more people involved politically. Thank you so much UNITY08 for making Democracy that much more accessible to all Americans.
