Although I know that the founders of this site prefer us to focus on issues right now, I want to suggest Governor Tom Kean for President on the Unity ticket. Although I am a lifelong Democrat, my concern now is that we choose a President with the fundamental intelligence and integrity for the office. Governor Kean proved himself as a highly successful Governor in New Jersey who built a strong record rooted in a non-partisan approach towards issues. Anyone else interested in building a Kean '08 bandwagon?
The problem with politics is that its basically a popularity contest. A candidate with no name recognition will have no traction. And unless we get Instant Runoff Voting, even if he has a good platform, no one will waste a vote on an unknown. We need to attract a name everyone knows; Liberman comes to mind.

Kean was chairman of the 9/11 commission - the recommendations of which, like the Iraq study commission, have largely been ignored.
Kean seems decent and honorable - unlike his son, who is intellectually challenged and tried to run based solely on repeating talking points.
I won't jump on a bandwagon, but we could do worse.
I could NEVER support Lieberman or any Iraq hawk.
