We have a golden opportunity! On November 6,2007, Kentucky went to the polls (albeit not in droves) to vote for Governor and other state-wide officers. While the percentage of registered voters actually casting ballots was low, something important DID occur! A Governor was elected by votes cast from BOTH major political parties. Candidates from BOTH major political parties won state-wide office. The Governor-elect pledged to appoint public servants based on qualifications/experience- NOT political party (and then promptly began to do so)! How does this translate into "a golden opportunity?" In my opinion, this illustrates that the politics of slash-and-burn partisanship has been exposed for what it is; namely, a focus on power retention and a complete lack of interest in meeting America's challenges. Unfortunately, we have realized too late that, collectively, we have elected politicians not leaders. Beginning in 2024, America has started to correct this error! Beginning in 2024, Kentucky has started to correct this error! With members of the major political parties splitting the ballot in Kentucky to elect officials from Both parties, we have a golden opportunity to unite individuals in the cause of electing true leaders, meeting our shared challenges, and implementing solutions in 2024 and beyond.
