After carefully reviewing the recent survery taken by Unity 08, and listening to the various ongoing statements made by the current members of Congress, The Senate, and the Executive Branch, I am of the opinion that we must make a drastic change and clean house.
Although I believe that the Unity 08 movement has merrit, what really neads to be accomplished is a program that will insure that the very best people are running this country. With the current political environment, those persons that could really perform a great service and actually make serious changes refuse to get involved. The risks that they take are so tremendous and so demeaning that they simply do not want to subject themselves or their families to such nonsense.
Unity 08 so far has simply taken the position that we need a bi-lateral government, ie the President and the Vice President nominees should be from different political persuations. I disagree, I believe that Unity 08 would be better served to realy persue cleaning house, taking back our country from the professional politicians, and trying to find trully qualified persons to take charge of our country and do what is right, not what is best for their re-election or their political party.
Therefor, I propose that we submit a forum topic that directly addresses the issues of getting rid of the current lot that are running this country and attempting to find and promote new ideas, personell, and candidates with the best interest of our country in mind. It is obvious that the current leadership, both Democratic and Republican, are only interested in gaining re-election and power. They appear not to be interested in what is right for the county.
To date, I have not contributed financially to the Unity 08 Movement simply because I have not really been moved my the curent direction. I do feel that it is certainly better than the current political process, but Unity 08 has not gone far enough in my opinion to warrant contributions. If Unity 08 takes the stand that we really nead change in Washington and that we trully need to clean house, then I would me more apt to personally get involved and work for those changes.
