I missed something. If the presidential candidate is selecting his own VP, why are we submitting suggestions for VP candidates? Could the presidential candidate not select a running mate from the top six (or TBD) candidates voted for in the qualifying rounds by the delegates? I want a VP candidate who is capable of being president, not one who is destined to disappear into the mist after election.
With the senate nearly split 50-50, I doubt any VP will "disappear into the mist".
Especially if he or she is from a different party than the President.

I really think that the desigated VP by Unity should come from the delegates and be the person from someone OTHER than the first placer's party who gets the most second most votes or at least the person (from all Parties) who gets the second place in the final round. I would prefere the Prez-VP from different parties as that woul show the nation the Unity theme and not as a spoiler to one of the parties but a legitimate contender fro office. As long as we are upfront about it with the possible Presidential Candidates and they realize what the rule is, I think it could pass muster and make sure more of the delegates do have a voice in the entire ticket. Just my idle thought. Hey they have 2 chances to get on the Unity ticket rather than one and 2 chances are better than one.
That's how the Constitution was originally written (of course, you knew that, right?) and it didn't work.
Much better to have a candidate select his VP from the other party. That ensures they get along.

Unity08 rules are biased against the major party candidates who, by necessity, must select a running mate from their own party. This should be allowed in Unity08 as well. The Founders discovered that having Pres/VP from different parties didn't work. Why does Unity08 think it will?
