Regarding a message from Unity Smoke Jumpers yesterday, directing me to read an article for a weekend debate on bi-partisanship, a worthy debate for sure. The article favors a McCain/Leiberman ticket, and for all the wrong reasons, very disappointing, and for me very disturbing.

I went to the article as instructed and without even scrolling down the first thing I read is this:

"Why not run a ticket with McCain/Lieberman, talk about a purely bipartisan administration... that would, indeed, send Hillary and most all of the other Democrats running for the hills, screaming and tearing their hair out as well as quite a few Republicans joining them."

I am frankly alarmed and very put off by this, the article is repugnant to me. I can appreciate anyone's opinion, but this? This is unacceptable for me. How is this going to help our country? Why do you want to 'send democrats running for the hills'? Or anyone else? Hasn't our country been through enough? Don't we have a horrid giant mess to clean up JUST BECAUSE OF THIS SORT OF OUTRAGEOUS PARTISANSHIP and DEVISIVENESS! I am not only perplexed, I feel a bit ill.

Is this organization about TRUE unity and TRUE bi-partisanship in the TRUEST sense of the words or what?

If the articles definition of bi-partisanship is meant for a substantial movement on U08 this organization is a just another trick on the American voter, not a dream, or a torch for change, or freedom, or unity, or anything good that I can see.

I have obviously been very enthusiastic about the possibilities U08, it has quite a lot of potential. I have been trying to contribute information, started three groups, the candidates of my choice have OBVIOUSLY worked for bi-partisanship, and have attempted to decisively but politely explain why I feel real change and bi-partisanship are IMPERATIVE to the well-being of America. However, if this article is U08's definition of bi-partisanship, or if you think sending anyone running for the hills is a good idea, I will go. I think it is appalling.

I don't want to debate about the content of this article or the true definition of bi-partisan. This article, it's definition of a 'bi-partisan' dream team' is clearly out of line with what I thought the intention of U08 would be. It is imperative that U08 define and adhere to a true bi-partisan philosophy, at least in my opinion, otherwise I will remove my groups and leave.
