The only thing that will make us independent within 20 years is oil from home. PERIOD. Anyone saying otherwise is being silly.

Drill in the US now to reduce dependence, energy costs and help finance the 'better' energy costs. R&D takes money. Tax the heck outta it and fund this Apollo Energy Project.

Any other proposal is pie in the sky and ignorant, at best.
