I believe that banning abortion would do more harm than good. Think about the times when the federal government tried to ban other substances/activities. The first to come to mind is, of course, prohibition in the early 20th century. Not only did it not stop the sale and consumption of alcohol but it built organized crime in the states. In addition, banning abortion would not only be inaffective but also a dangerous solution, because people would still get abortions from possibly unqualified people.
