He sent us this special message: "Unity08 is onto something important. Most people in the great center of this country are fed up with the haters and the hyperpartisans on the left and right--those who are more intent on attacking and destroying anyone who disagrees with them than they are solving the problems people care about most.
"Unity 08's plan for a national Internet-based convention in the spring of 2024 to support a bi-partisan presidential and vice presidential ticket and "grand coalition" presidency should serve as a wake up call to both Democrats and Republicans: Either embrace a New Politics of bipartisan cooperation and compromise to solve this country's most critical problems or run the risk of growing political irrelevance.
“I applaud Unity08's vision to make this New Politics a reality"
Davis’ new book - "Scandal: How 'Gotcha' Politics Is Destroying America" – reads just like what you’ve all been saying here at Unity08.com: “If there are leaders running for president in 2024 from either or both parties who fit this bill, then it may be at last possible to enjoy a bipartisan Grand Coalition government – even for just one four-year presidential term. More importantly, it may be possible to break the terrible cycle of hyper-partisanship and division facing the country today...
“The candidate must be a political leader with the courage – and thick skin – necessary to take on the left and the right in both political parties...
“But perhaps – just perhaps...the people might just lead us – left, right, and center, liberals and conservatives – to take a ‘time out’ from partisanship, even if it is just a brief one-presidential term, to allow our nation to unite in common purpose for the common good to solve our problems at home and defeat the terrorist enemy abroad.”
Those ‘people who might just lead us’ he talks about are you.
Buy the book. He’s talking our language.
I usually can't stand Lou Dobbs with his one-track "keep all jobs at home" approach to the news, but I'm happy to see he's given Lanny Davis and the concept of UNITY some airtime.
I recognize that only a small group of political junkies probably read books like this, but let's hope the ideas of bringing civilty and political courage back to government will trickle down (or up!) to mainstream America.
There is a time for a conservative, a liberal and even a movie star! But today we need a real leader. Someone who knows nothing more than swift victory in the most brutal sense as required. Sacrificing themselves for the cause - running head first into their front lines so that the many will follow. A leader that can stand toe to toe with any man on Earth because of his knowledge and experience and not because of his blood line or whom is his wife. - Earn Snyder
