How many individual contributions have been made to Unity 08, and what is the sum total of those contributions? What are Unity 08's current operating expenses?

Sorry, I press the wrong button before I edited my post; spelling corrected.

Unity08 is a non-profit corporation. Unity08 dose not have to file an IRS statement for a year or so. Besides, corporate income statements look nothing like your household budget. My guess is there will be no simplified version (profit and loss statement) for us to review. But if there is, I expect we will have to go somewhere other than this web site to view it.

jamesmcook on December 2, 2024 - 12:47pm

Greg, sorry, but no, that's wrong. Unity WAS filed as a 527 organization, and as such had to file IRS statements. They are filed on a quarterly basis and ARE available for review.

Go here to the IRS political organization disclosure database:

http://forms.irs.gov/politicalOrgsSearch/search/gotoBasicSearch.action

if you want to search by EIN, Unity08's is 20-4931560. Be sure to search by both "Unity 08" and "Unity08" to get complete results, which includes an initial disclosure form and quarterly reports for the 2nd and 3rd quarter.

The results are quite interesting.

Saying "You can't pick your parents" is dodging the issue. Her parents, or in this case her father, picked HER.

Nepotism ties into this discussion because it is a warning sign, as is refusal to dislose contributions and operational expenses. People want to know what's going on here, and we're not getting answers.

She is in high school – and high schoolers vote. That’s probably a good start.

Bill is right. MOVE ON!

My orginal retort to commonsense for some reason was deleted from this thread in the dark hours of last night. Interesting to say the least? So, I will repost.

As you say teenage girl, as i say trust fund baby alias: resume builder, Kathleen Jordan is a self declared activist and founder of an organization whose purpose is to change the process of electing the president of a country leading the free world.

She lied. Her dad WAS a political consultant, having been hired on the Perot 3rd Reform party effort which managed to elect Clinton.

In any case I stand by my statement which detailed the enormous damage perpetrated by the Carter/Jordan administration which set the stage of the nightmare that we are currently living.

I ask, other then being well connected to the power elite, what qualifications determined her nomination to be a founding member of Unity08.

Bill713 on July 15, 2024 - 6:51am

This forum is 'Questions for the Founders' and this topic is 'Contributions'. This Carter-Jordan-Clinton bashing 'thread' has nothing to do with either.

If the rationale for 'Presidental ticket Only' is not better developed, political pragmatist will be less likely to be active on U08's behalf. The faq just says that's what U08 wants to do without explaining this limitation. I asked a second question because I suspect the issue is related to fund management and contributions in particular.

Yep it shows a person can be a very good person but not suited for the Presidency. But he did pave the way for the Reagan years and America would never have given him a chance if Carter wasn't so ill suited for the job.

His current habit of not sticking up for his own country is a bit disappointing though.

Jackie on July 14, 2024 - 11:22pm

Sure threaten violence. If unity establishes a brown shirt wing to intimidate folks on behalf of the Founders you can be the leader.

Anonymous on July 14, 2024 - 11:03pm

There but for the grace of God goes 299,000,000 people in the good old USA.
I remember those years and it seems Carter inherited a lot of crap from previous Republican presidencies. OPEC also learned to play the game US corporations had been using to screw them for years. We were free then too and we chose to drive our gas guzzlers at higher inefficient speeds. Thankfully we are smarter now.
JimD if your spouse is still with you then you are lucky hope the same can be said for her.

If I were in the same room with boofydoof or whatever his name was and he said something like that to a young woman I'd kick his butt. Yep. Sure would. I believe in respect and lacking respect then a good whoopin.

You should apologize too.

Johnny Anonymously on July 14, 2024 - 9:34pm

Adults don't go around saying things like "If we were in the same room I would probably teach you a lesson."

No one who posts here is immune to criticism. That includes teenage girls who somehow find themselves in a position with no explanation for how that happened other than family connections.

commonsense on July 14, 2024 - 9:26pm

Stay with the thread Bill. Your questions have been answered several times all over the place and the Unity position is stated clearly in the FAQ.

Bill713 on July 14, 2024 - 9:00pm

I actually had a question for the Founders Council amongst all this useless drival. I hope a relevant party noticed. Thanks to the Anon that did.

Pablum? Please.

If there's anything the discussions need on this site, it's more clarity and simplicity.

Between the dozens of 5th grade term papers, and incomprehensible plugs for personal agendas posted in the comments here... it's amazing that anyone is still interested in this concept.

Just because someone wasn't born when you were suffering through *insert regime here* isn't a good reason to discount their comments. We go from complaining that no one on the FC is posting, to tearing apart everything they say when they do post? How is this helping anything?

commonsense on July 14, 2024 - 8:41pm

You talk to a teen-aged girl like that Jim? If we were in the same room I would probably teach you a lesson. Because in my country, called America, a man doesn't talk that way to a young woman.

Regardless of what you think of Unity or Hamilton Jordan, you don't attack his daughter like that.

You disgust me.

Apologize.

Kathleen Jordan on July 14, 2024 - 2:48pm

Thank you Kathleen for that paragraph of pure pablum. I'm glad that you're excited and can vote. You mentioned that "our deepest concerns, unfortunately, are going to hit my generation the hardest". You can depend on that, trust me.

I am still living in the ashes of the Carter/Jordan presidency, the most disastrous administration in US history.

I suffered the double-digit inflation, coupled with very high interest rates, oil shortages, high unemployment, and stagflation. I remember the 15.7% interest rate on my first home, and the 17.5% rate on my spouses automobile.

I remember the Carter suport and millions of dollars in aid to Nicaragua's new Sandinista regime after it rose to power by a revolution. A vicious Marxist authoritarian movement that expanded into Honduras and El Salvador.

I remember the Carter/Jordan, Zbigniew Brzezinski $40 billion covert program of training Islamic fundamentalists in Pakistan and Afghanistan that initiated the mess that we're trying to thread out at present.

I remember when Carter/Jordan reinstated registration for the draft for young males, my son included.

I remember when Carter/Jordan made the decision that U.S. would no longer support the Shah of Iran, even going so far as to outlaw the shipment of riot control supplies to the country when they were needed. Now we have an Iran with nukes.

That is a Whitmans Sampler of what I have to thank Ham Jordan for.

And, by the way, indifferent to your protest, your dad WAS a political consultant. He hired onto the Perot 3rd party campaign which gave us Clinton for president.

I am very concerned that this "movement" will be distracted from the purpose that I thought I had signed the petition..

it is stunning that a political movement would start.... without proper, orderly disclosure and a clear sense of its role as a 527...

While I disagree with the idea of no organized party designation, lack of supporting state and congressional candidates ...

the central issue we are like a group waiting for the meeting to be called to order....

and unfortunately the issue of transparency remains... unanswered..

commonsense on July 14, 2024 - 3:47pm

Hi Kathleen, I'm impressed that you faced this sqawking bunch.

I am very interested to see you and the other young volunteers post here much more often.

Speaking for myself only, Unity08 feels a lot like being invited to a meeting but the meeting is never called to order. The attendees just mill around and chat with each other waiting for the meeting to start.

And someone is passing the hat for donations but we don't know what we're donating to yet.

The ones who started Unity08 are the ones who called the meeting and they are the ones who must call the meeting to order and begin going through the agenda.

In your opinion what is the agenda of Unity08?

Kathleen Jordan on July 14, 2024 - 2:48pm

This is Kathleen Jordan, and I just wanted to say that I am very excited to be a part of Unity '08. Sure, I'm young, but so are many of the Unity '08 volunteers... I have just as much right as any American citizen to be involved in politics. I am surprised and disappointed to find such an ageist sentiment voiced so strongly. My vote counts just as much as everyone else's, regardless of my age. I keep myself informed about politics and take pride in my interest in what is going on in the world-- our deepest concerns, unfortunately, are going to hit my generation the hardest. You can't pick your parents, and my father (who, by the way, was never a political consultant) was in politics a long time ago. I probably got the political bug from my dad, but I care about our country just like you do.
I look forward to working with you to make a difference.

Be assured this cabinet will be comprised of each and every person that desires to participate as we are not limited to the size of a table or 5 minutes on the floor... our leadership will act as filters to turn the peoples good ideas written in haste, and make it clear copy that makes sense to all... Yes, the day has changed, and our future leaders will speak the truth, reflect the peoples views, and most of all - will rely on this for success... www.appyp.com/fix_main.html

I won't post this repeatedly like some.

I will post this Anonymously like so many others.

I don't have a personal website to plug so I'll add
http://www.firstgov.gov/

I'll also present the name Kathleen Jordan for vice president. Since so many people seem to think she is a major/serious/critical/important issue of immediate concern I propose we elevate her status.
(Sorry, I forgot to use my Caps Lock for emphasis) KATHLEEN JORDAN FOR VP!

Gosh blogging is fun and for transparency to my knowledge I have never met any of the Founders, or any of the other contributers, in money or comments, to this site.

If these unity08 fundamentals hold true, that we will be selecting our leadership in a run-off format and that the establishment will give us an opportunity to debate the two heads in front of the American people ... then and only then will we win! www.appyp.com/fix_main.html

Can someone translate the Founders answer to has the real power and runs Unity. I am having trougle parsing their language.

================================
Question: So who runs it?

Answer: While we like to answer that question by saying “the people do” (in the sense that they shape the web-site, will be the delegates, will pick the nominees, and will get them on the ballot in all 50 states), there is of course a technical legal answer as well. The Steering Committee of Unity08 (technically the Board of Directors of the 527) currently consists of Bailey, Clayton, Rafshoon and Ullman. It soon will be expanded to seven members. The Unity08 president and CEO is Jim Jonas.

My friends, this is your movement not theirs! For you (the people) will pick the person(s) to represent this unification of the people as we enter a run-off system where candidates will debate for your vote... This will be free of bias and filled with unity of, for, and by the American people... so I say to you - hold formation as those whom wish to lead will step forward and charge their front lines, and those that wish to stand in formation and pick up our flag as we make a dent, as those in formation will eventually be called forth to finish the fight... www.appyp.com/fix_main.html

"We expect that the movement will be led in many ways by the young."

That's what you expect. But what about the old folk Doug? Are we dismissed? Would you say that what is actually developing, if Shoutbox is any indication, is leadership by the old folk who have been around and have seen the good and bad of both parties?

Don't brush us aside.

Where are the younguns here on Unity08?

The best way to get us "naysayers" to settle down is to talk to us. The next best way is to encourage some of the young people to get involved here - Unity Community. (that would be a better name than Shoutbox, by the way).

Tolas - I don't want to walk away. I want this to work.

Doug Bailey on July 14, 2024 - 11:23am

This particular string of postings has gotten way out of whack, starting with the notion that having a high school student on the Founders Council is a sign of wackiness, corruption or some other sin. We are not only proud to have Kathleen Jordan on the Founders Council, she and we are making a concerted effort to recruit millions of high school students to the cause. They will be voters in 2024 – and for the most part lack the reflex cynicism that the system seems over time to instill in many others (this set of postings as an example).

It’s not irrelevant that the failings of our politics will leave the biggest impact of all on our young people. They will be paying the bills (financial and otherwise) for the rest of their lives. They have the biggest stake of all in changing the system to focus on crucial issues that get ignored today. That is why there are so many college students on the Founders Council as well. We expect that the movement will be led in many ways by the young. Some may feel threatened by that; we love it.

And as we promised, please note the Q&A on governance posted today here. Thanks.

SATXRich on July 14, 2024 - 11:09am

Tolas,

The persistant questions are because people are not willing to easily dismiss the potential of Unity.

Easily dismissing would be just walking away.

But let's face it there has been time and only the most nominal of response.
