I'd like to introduce some new features to our active Shout Box users!

SUBSCRIPTION FEATURES

Click on "Edit Your Profile" in the top left corner of this page.
Click on the "Subscriptions" tab in your profile.
You will see that there are several type of things that you can subscribe to:

"Threads"
Shows which conversations you are subscribed to within the Shout Box. To subscribe to them, you click on the "Subscribe Topic" link at the top of each topic that you are interested in.

"Blogs"
Shows which blogs you are subscribed to.

"Categories"
Allows you to subscribe to the various categories of the Shout Box.

"Content types"
Lets you subscribe to various types of new content, blog entries, forum topics, and/or events.

"RSS Feed"
Subscribe you to any piece of new content that is created on Unity08.com.

I think everyone realizes that some form of National Healthcare Reform is going to take place after the 2024 elections, the question is, “How do we get there from here?”
The basic issues that will first have to be addressed are Access and Cost. Access is the easiest, ALL legal citizens of the United States of America will have equal, unfettered access to the highest quality care available! The issue of Cost is going to be the hardest to resolve. The reasons behind the high cost of healthcare and some of the costs incurred are as follows:

Christian Principled Democracy And Healthcare

The idea behind a Christian principled democracy is not to legislate Christian values, but to let Christian values guide legislation! A Christ guided government is not antithetical to democracy. Indeed, a truly democratic government would exactly mirror the teachings of Christ! As recent events in this nation have proven however, it is a difficult struggle maintaining the cherished principle of separation of church and state. The agenda of so called “Christian Conservatives” for example, would push us dangerously close to theocratic dictatorship by enacting laws and changing the constitution in ways that would legally force their views onto the rest of society. It was Jesus who spoke simply, but most eloquently, about the division of government and religion when he said, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s”.

I like McCain's Health care plan

We can all shop nationally for any plan we want, we can buy through any organization who has a plan, not just our state or our company.

Mostly it gives the average family more buying power in the market and rewards good plans by letting any interested person opt-in.

Its universal care but not nationalized medicine.

I know many of you dislike his policies on Iraq & immigration, but lets hear this good idea of his and embrace the good aspects of it.

(Also, GM & Chrysler have just agreed to let the UAW have their own plan. No more company-based care.)

Market forces will work better if we all have good buying power.

The key issue here, I think, is whether or not health care should be a for-profit rather than for-patient industry

Like millions of Americans in this country, I work for a low salary ($8 an hour) with no health insurance. My husband has been out of work for some time, because his muscles were fatiguing and giving him such pain that he literally could not do his job as a mechanic any more. Like me, he had no health care coverage. Today he was diagnosed with myasthinia gravis, and given a prescription for medicine which, at the first dosage, relieved his symptoms. We went to a non-profit health foundation clinic rather than follow the for-profit route, so we would be able to afford the tests and everything.

Healthcare and Hurricane Kathrina

After Hurricane Kathrina devestated New Orleans and the Gulf Coast a number of countries offered to send medical help, which was badly needed.
However, our idiot president rejected that help and we are still in dire straits two years after the event.
After all how could he allow the French and Cubans to show a positive face.
This experience defines how our government feels about health care for americans.

If VFWs cant get a smooth system of health care the how can a nation

Hurry up and wait is what we learned in the army with the wait, because of 650K soldiers, being the most frustrating part. Now let’s add an entire nation to that list along with those people just looking for an easy way out of doing the simple job. We all know “that guy.” What is it going to cost us in taxes first of all, and then, what is it going to cost our medical teams in man hours to treat the “I have the sniffals and can’t go to work blues.” I now have to wait in line behind these leeches because they are now covered with this “everybody should have health care” idea even though they have nothing to bring to the table but the, take care of me, democratic idea. If getting out of Iraq and setting up a complete civil war in a country that houses the most vital natural recourse on this earth will allow us to flourish in 10 years with oils prices that will be out of our hands than lets push for that.

Government for the people of the people by the people.
