In order to have an election impact for the presidential election, Unity08 must get on the ballot in all states. What is the plan to do this? In many states, it takes thousands of signatures in order to do this. If Unity08 is not on the state ballots, then how will we make any progress.

Delegates should have nmore influence than simple comment and debate in the rules process. Once finalized and approved by the Rules Committee, all delegates should have the chance to vote on and approve the rules which we will all be bound by going forward. A simple majority of those who vote within a defined time period will approve the rules as they stand approved by the Rules Committee.

4.3.c Remove Principle Support completely. This is wrong. If the candidate or their representative doesn't participate, then they should not be a candidate for unity08. The concept of having a third party pretend to be a representative, and then contacting the real candidate and asking "will you run for us?" afterwards seems wrong. The candidate either participates, or does not. No Principle Supporter.

4.3.d Where are the "American Agenda" questions??? Reference them here, or provide a link. Please also provide to the candidates a method of supplying their answers!

4.3.e Please define these questions, and provide candidates with a way to answer them.

4.3.g Why do you assume Democrat or Republican? These two major parties should not even be allowed into the unity08 process. Why? Because you know full well what will happen, even if you get a pres and a vp from each party... The vp is sent instantly out to pasture, and you have the same old crap, again. You've spent all this effort trying to do something wonderful, and then instantly blown it. YOU MUST DISQUALIFY ANYONE ASSOCIATED WITH EITHER THE DEMOCRATIC OR REPUBLICAN PARTIES. If you do not, then is all a waste of time. I guarantee it.

Importance of getting on the Ballot in all 50 states and D.C.

This is a great idea and I'm sure the proper procedures for issue selection and candidate nomination and selection will be worked out. But, it seems to me that the more important practical items are: 1) Getting on the Ballot and 2) Raising enough money to be credible and competitive. Otherwise It's just another good idea with no positive results.I believe that this process must begin way before the summer of 2024 in order to qualify on all state ballots.

I'd like to recommend having a radio button available underneath each proposal that says something like: "Accepted As Written". It's been my experience that you'll get more participation if you have a simple way to say YES without having to go to the blogs (and it takes a little while to find your way around this website ... you don't want to lose valuable support from people who aren't patient with technology and who love Unity08).

4.3g platform not party is important

I wonder that there should not be just one single focal point of being so demanding that Presidential Candidate and VP Candidate MUST BE (come hell or high water)of different political parties but rather look to endorse the persons that represent our views best even if they are from the same party BECAUSE UNITY08 PLATFORM NEEDS TO BE PRESENTED AS THE REAL FOCAL POINT of this endeavor; a platform that speaks very specific ideas so that 1.)if Unity 08 Candidates do win than everyone knows exactly what it is we are standing unitied about and cooperation with these ideas by passing appropriate legislation is expected after the elections occur....but if we lose 2.) at the least, our endeavor is not in vain for it will bring substance in the arena of Debate; that by presenting American/world situation 'as it is now' and ideas of 'why and how it has got to get to in the future', Unity 08 will have created accountability for opposing Candidates to have to acknowledge our ideas and need to present substantial ideas themselves....something very lacking, all Americans can only benefit from us doing the best we can!

1. This is a beauty contest. Nobody is going to get elected unless/until they get electors on the ballot in a bunch of states. That is a complicated, labor intensive and expensive task - and I see no mention of it.

2. Too many rules and complicated procedures. Such procedures should be designed by professional systems engineers who know what is possible, what is probable, what can and cant be administered. To use a well meaning group of amateurs is like the old saw about a camel being a horse made by a committee.

4.3 American Agenda definition

The American Agenda is the heart and soul of the political process.
No candidate is going to come forward unless the American Agenda has a real and credible definition.
Issues are primary. Feel good statements about the American Dream, for example, are irrelevant.
Unity08 needs to put some meat on its bones immediately.
Start the process for defining the American Agenda!

President and Vice President to be of different parties

I don't think this rule is very practical. The Vice President is not a decision-making position (Cheney is the exception) so if a Republican is elected virtual President, that party will once again control the issues. I just don't see the point.
