Practically speaking, whatever candidate runs via Unity08 will have to be quite rich in order to coordinate 25,000 signatures in 10 states, with eight months and about a week to go until the convention and no place to gather online candidate signatures of support yet. Is the plan to wait until the last minute so that ordinary citizens can't take the necessary time to collect signatures? Or is Unity08 simply tardy...

... like it's been tardy in closing down comments on the Draft Rules, which it promised to close FOUR months ago. Eight months and a week to go, and the Draft Rules are still simply Draft Rules. When is this step of formalizing the Unity08 rules, necessary for candidates to begin their runs, going to take place? Not soon enough.

So yes, please plan on being quite rich if you want to run through Unity08.

Rule 2.4 Benefits Only The Established Power

Rule 2.4 supports the idea that the elected office is intended for the rich and powerful. It is already difficult enough for someone with means to collect 25,000 registered voters, which would take staff and plenty of money. Unity 08 suggests that they want to elect someone that is not part of the political problem. Rule 2.4 promotes only the established politicians to run. In my own state, a former U.S. Senator is considering running for the Unity 08 nomination. He already has a base in his home state, but he would still have a mountain of support to gather across the other nine states to become a qualified candidate. This former U.S. Senator states that he is upset with the current system, but why was he not upset with that same system when he was in position to make changes?

There should be a page for candidates to say they are willing to run - where they can download forms and an address as well to send the completed hardcopy petitions (if these are even required).

My Message to You Today

I am hear to day to share with you, a messages and a way we can do your Christian duty to help save America.

I don’t know about you but I am fighting mad about what the Hollywood Liberals and the atheist are doing to try to destroy the Christians and Jews. Since the beginning of time the ungodly have persecuted us. Now along with the Muslims and the rest of the anti Christ they are trying to do it again. In the past the Christians and Jews were unaware and lacked the ability to communicate, as a results they were persecuted. We need to nip it in the bud now. It is time that we take up the sword and defend our God given rights. There are a lot more of us then them. If your are willing to fight the fight and walk the walk, I am going to show you one way to use your sword, which is your vote to remove all the ungodly politicians and laws that threaten your Christian freedom.

internet or not?

If the idea is to change the process and use the internet, why are you requiring hard copy? Are you going to require that this new type of candidate immediately start rooting around for a money trough to pay for travel funds to go to various states in person, or are you really committed to changing the paradigm?

That being said, I do support the idea of 100 unique, validated individuals petitioning for a candidate to be considered etc etc, just not necessarily in-person hard copy.

You should state that a candidate must meet constitutional requirements for candidacy. These requirements should be listed, so zealous individuals too young, for instance, won't apply and have to be rejected.

This draft rule proposes that a Prospective Candidate, while on the list, can solicit support. I am not sure this should include financial support until they qualify as a Candidate per Rule 2.4

A candidate must prove eligibility to serve based on the constitutional requirements before getting on the ballot. A candidate must have 100 qualification signatures in each of 30 states and 1,000 signatures in the candidate's home state.

July 16, 2024, being the mother of 2 sons currently serving in the Air Force and Army, married to a Viet Nam vet who served with the 5th Special Forces and a daughter of a father who served in WW11, I have always felt that the Commander-in-Chief, President if you will, MALE OR FEMALE should be required to have served their Country in the military. How can you command if you have never been there!?
