What do you think about our reaction to the FEC ruling? Some of you have told us that you love it. Some of you have told us that it's too much, because as a practical matter, the ruling will have no impact on our operations.

It's our intent to point out when Washington does things that smack of the problems that Unity08 aspires to address. We want to do that well. So tell us what you think. Share your thought here.

You have been unwise to make a big deal of this ruling, that, as you say, has no practical effect on Unity08.

We criticize the Congress for its focus on the trivial at the expense of true substance. We should be following our own advice.

I suspect the FEC ruling is a technical definition of Unity'08 based on its current activities and funding methods. The notion that "Official Washington" has Unity '08 in its crosshairs seems just plain silly. Have we even raised enough money to mount a decent House of Rep campaign in a medium sized TV market?

The FEC web site has a chart showing maximum contribution levels to different kinds of organizations. Although we are a "527," it seems to me like the FEC is putting us in more in the "PAC" category than the "National Party" category.

It's pretty obvious that Unity's "self-imposed" $5,000 contribution limit was set in full anticipation of such a ruling.

Sorry, kids. The fear thing isn't going to stick. Credibility and leadership will.

That means setting goals and executing them.

If you volunteered for $5000 cap, you might have baited the FEC ruling. Clever subgoals are not always "on message", so forget it and get the message you want to be on.
