Approach to Twin Deficits and even a Third:

The budget deficit can be rationalized with Lending Certificates -- authorizing the Fed to issue them to congress to finance the common defense and general welfare as required by the Constitution and the Humphrey - Hawkins law.

The trade deficit can be ended with Import Certificates as suggested by Warren Buffett.

A bill of rights deficit can be cured by adopting FDR's Second Bill of Rights

We are caught in what may be WW III. FDR predicted we would in his explanation the Second Bill.

The time is now. Hit a tripple and save the future for all of us.

I find I agree with JG on virtualy nothing but that would be no reason to suggest he stop posting. I would think that such posts would serve to encourage newbie participation rather than deter it.
Posts keep these boards alive and anything we post here is clearly seperated from the "official unity movement" posts that we find from "guest bloggers".
I see no conflict in anyone posting varied topics.
My only gripe was with that individual that was cutting and pasting the same things verbatim a while back but that seems to have fizzled out.
    Post Away....

    Anon,

And the scientific basis for your assessment of JG's impact on our environment is?

    Dear Anonymous,

I do have a blog -- it has suffered the loss of my writing so that I can educate you. You do need it badly -- as well as a dose of politeness. With a name like Anonymous (the most popular at times) you are a strange one to object to too many posts from the same name. Who asked you to read any of them anyway.

To the contributors below who have complimented my efforts I say thanks.

Posting here is only self-serving to the extent that you get a kick out imagining you have an audience.

Speaking of which, Anonymous, your own negative posts certainly serve only you -- only very rearely have they been uplifting -- and even then I'm not sure which Anonymous you are.

Now after you take your negative self out of here, maybe we who reamin should discuss deficits.

The Import Certiciate article by Buffett in Fortune at the end of 2024 is on my blog http://www.tiea.us

The Lending Certificates are a way to use deficit spending (Keynesian economics) to grow an economy without counter-productive taxes. Why anyone would welcome taxes that tend to retard growth is beyond me.

The only need we have for taxes is to prevent that degree of upward spiraling inflation that can harm growth even more than taxes.

I listened to Tom Friedman today. He said America's usual can-do optimistic spirit seemed to be less than it used to be.

It seems to me that the problems we can solve by curing the three deficits above would go a long way toward bringing back the optimism missing since 9-11.

In fact it seems to me there is an optimism deficit that may be the worst of all.

Are we such pansies that we think that asking someone to stop their constant posting is "censorship"?

What Gelles writes here belongs in a blog. I'd like to see him go away for awhile. His writing chases away more newbies than the lack of his writing.

    SATXRick on July 30, 2024 - 7:59pm

John, provide more background though if I undestand you correctly I think you are stuck in Keynesian economic theory which isn't holding up too well.

John's posts are just fine (not that I agree with all of them) it is not like he posts advertisments for his busness here.

John definitely adds to the discussion!

This is a public blog. John Gelles belongs here .. he generates stimulating ideas.

    Anonymous on July 30, 2024 - 6:14pm

As long as John Gelles has intelligent comments to make and does it in a non abusives manner, why can't post as much as he wants? It's not like the site is running out of space.

Matter of fact, if Gelles and a few others stopped posting this place would be awfully awfully quiet. That's not a good way to attract new blood.

There are several names that appear more often than "Anonymous" and Jill and others know how easily that can occur.

    Anonymous on July 30, 2024 - 1:10am

John Gelles this is not your personal blog. Please, please go make a blog somewhere to write your stuff.

Sincerely, I'm asking you to consider the motives for your posts. They are starting to seem as self-serving as Earn's. Go blog somewhere and come back here in a year or so when Unity really starts to build steam.

    Please, Sir, I beg you.
