Unity08: There’s Something for Everyone!

posted by Lindsay Ullman and Zach Clayton on July 17, 2024 - 4:23pm

Many people have been asking what they can do to get involved. Here are 10 of our ideas of how you can help. Pick one or make up your own.

Blogger? Send us a guest blog post. And if you pass along your blog name, we’ll link to you from www.Unity08.com.

Cartoonist? Or do you know any? Pass along your work or the names of friends who might be interested in drawing political cartoons for Unity08. We need to bring more life (and fun) onto the site.

Dream of being a TV Producer? We want videos! Create a video about why you support Unity08.

MySpace or Facebook user? Many people have created groups and Unity08 profiles. Log on and join to connect with other supporters!

Giver? Support Unity08 with a monetary contribution. Every dollar counts. Click here to donate.

Designer? Create a bumper sticker or flyer. We’ll post them on the web for users to download.

Talker? Call your local radio stations. We want people to hear about Unity08 – and you can help get the word out!

Way with words? Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper about Unity08, and why everyone in your community should join at www.Unity08.com.

Song writer? Write a Song. We’re looking for funny/witty/creative Unity08 songs and jingles to post online.

Organizer? Create a Unity08 organization in your hometown. www.MeetUp.com is a great place to start, or recruit neighbors and friends to brainstorm how to spread the word in your town.

Send us your photos, songs, videos, blogs, and cartoons to web@unity08.com. And check out what other Unity08 supporters are doing here.

Do you have other ideas? Post them below!

Would say that Meetups are not the way to go. If a system could be set up so that those who wanted to get involved could meet with others in their areas without using Meetup, that would be best.

Lindsay how about organizing an event holiday's like valentines day. Like get your sweetie a Unity08 rose with the logo on it or something like that?

Jackie,

That's a great action for the winter. Any other creative thoughts on things people can do right now?

JM,
MeetUp is one way to do it. Another is to just start organizing people in your town and letting us know what you're doing so we can post it on the site. Eventually, we want to make it much easier for people to network with each other right here at unity08.com.

Thanks for the thoughts- the more, the better.

SYRIAN POLICY POLL:
(A) Syria policy should remain the same, allow Syria to dig its own grave or move forward toward democracy and the denouncing of terrorism. Establishing future U.S. policy in reaction to Syrian behavior from the day we take over the office of the Presidency.
(B) Sanction Syria by trade for criminal actions thus far, and force Syria to stop all criminal activities to resume trade.
(C) Immediately cut Syria off from the billions in aid we give them each year.
(D) Immediately remove and replace the Syrian government with a democracy overseen by the U.N.
(E) Syria should be disolved and made part of the New Iraq.
(F) The government and those in control of Syria should be arrested for harboring terrorists and weapons of mass destruction (war crimes).

As such a pulse should be made available to each visitor or member of this site ....gogogo! www.appyp.com/fix_main.html

Lindsay -

To be done effectively and to start things moving efficiently, I just think it would be better to have some sort of loosely structured design for people to get behind when trying to organize locally - a "campaign-in-a-box" type of thing to download from the site maybe? Or, this early on, something akin to "Drinking Liberally" to promote local discussion groups? Just to start and be done well, I think it needs to originate from a central point. And I'm not trying to annoying, just floating ideas based on experience! : )

Of course you mean to convert that to Drinking Moderately for us right? Which actually is a much healthier mixed message.

I understand the reasons for delay.. that the movement or revolution cant start... but this site is quickly turning into the insane ramblings of about 200 people posting 7,000 posts..

80 percent of those post have nothing to do with winning, organizing or even information that will get to whatever committe does the on line convention..

Sure 9,000 people signed the petitions, but one person must have accounted for at least 200 posts ...

Clearly a lot of people are dropping by the way side.... because if 9,000 people visited this site .. then the post count would be higher,,

The answer is quite simply this site has lots of blogs, but the oranizing threads when they appear
are buried back in the shoutbox..

and then the Mods allow the thread
to be hijacked.....

One thread where memebers coud click onto their state and organize in that state..

There has to be some action.. it is getting tiresome running in this maze......

Welcome, welcome Unity08!
I truly believe Unity08 is the answer to America's political woes.

I cry when I read the paper, watch TV or listen to the radio...I cannot believe that the Congress in place is all we have to choose from as we move into 06 and 08 races. Down with Darth Chaney and Riddler Rove, and their puppet Boy George.
It is our country and it's high time that we act like we own it. If our employees acted like our senators, representatives, judges and president - we would have
fired them by now! So let's do it!
I will support this movement in every way possible.
Thank you for this oppportunity.

I am probably one of the few that has posted 200 times.

I have emailed Unity08 about their blog and how to better operate it. I was contacted. The webmaster had only two things to say: “our moderator is stretched a bit thin between the shoutbox and blog…Would you be interested in that role in an informal capacity?” My answer was of course yes and that was a week ago.

It appears that there is no one at the wheel. Because I can’t get to the helm or into the engine room I am just going to hold fast. I expect this ship is aimlessly floating along with the current. Maybe the captain will awake from his/her drunken stupor. In the mean time I prey we don’t hit the rocks.
